Alfred Kenneth Harris

Alfred Kenneth “Ken” Harris, a Veteran and patriot, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, in his home in Ijamsville, MD

He was born on August 12, 1935, in Brownsville, PA, a son of the late Alfred and Jean (Anfield) Harris.

He served four years in the Army, including a tour in Korea working in counterintelligence, and wrapped up his service at Ft. Meade in Maryland.

Ken took the skills that he developed in the Army and applied them at a relatively new agency in the government; the National Security Agency (NSA).  Ken spent nearly 40 years working at NSA helping to defend his country and counter adversaries around the world.  Ken retired as a Senior Executive at NSA and was Deputy Director of Security.

 In addition to his parents Ken was preceded in death by his son Kenneth “Kenny” Harris; his sister, Marie Whoolery; brothers, David "Pat" Harris, Larry "Pooker" Harris, John “Jack” Harris, and his brother-in-law, Larry Ging.

Left to cherish Ken’s memory are his wife of 22 years, Donna Harris; his sons, John Harris (Theresa), and Brian Harris; his siblings, Carol Witmyer (Abbsy), Nancy Parkins (Byron), Kay Schrock (Richard) , Debbie Ging, and Kevin Harris.

He will also be remembered fondly by his grandchildren Kathleen Skinner (Joe), and Grant Harris.  He was also great grandfather to Micah and Caleb Skinner.

Family and friends will be received in the Mariscotti Funeral Home, Inc., Anthony N. Mariscotti, Supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, PA on  August 25, 2025, from 10:00 AM and until 11:00 am when funeral services will be held in the funeral home with the Rev. Amory Merriman, officiating.

Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery, California, PA

Ken’s legacy of service and patriotism will forever be remembered by all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
