Arthur Harris Obituary

It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Arthur Stanley Harris, who died peacefully at home on June 7, 2025, at the age of 89. Born in Brownsville, PA, a son Raymond and Edna (Grimes) Harris,  Art lived a fulfilling life, dedicated to his family, friends, and the community.

In addition to his parents, Art was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Duvall, and his brother, Wilbur Harris.

Arthur took great pride in his work as a steelworker at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Allenport Plant where he contributed his skills and hard work in the steel industry, providing for his family and serving as a role model for his children and grandchildren. Art was a skilled carpenter and was always working on home remodeling projects for friends and family.  He was a beloved husband to his dear wife, Pauline Harris, and a devoted father to his daughters Tammy Matsko (Ron Hopta) and Terrie Javorsky (Dennis), as well as his son Todd Harris (JoAnne). He cherished his role as a grandfather to his grandchildren: Lauren Snyder (Corey), Megan Wolpink (Rob),  William Matsko III (Bri), Kirsten Matsko, Mallory Selinger (John), Chelsea Smith (Dan), Sydney Hussar (Jeff) , Nathan Harris (Francesca), and six great grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.

Art was a man of strong values and unwavering spirit, who enjoyed life's simple pleasures and created beautiful memories with his loved ones. His legacy will undoubtedly live on through the lives he touched. He was an avid Steelers Fan and was such an active member of the community. He was a  former President of the California Borough Council, he served on the California Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club, the California Optimist Club, he was a former member of the California Trojan Boosters Club, an active participant at the Center in the Woods, the California Young Men’s’ Club, California Hill Gun Club, the California Traveling Football Club and the California Italo-American Citizen’s Club.  Artie also served as Vice President of the Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Mill Union #1187.
