Eleanor May Anderson, a devoted homemaker and cherished matriarch, will be remembered for her vibrant spirit and unwavering love. Born on July 5, 1937, in Vestaburg, PA, a daughter of the late Hezekiah and Lenora (Kuczykowski) Dunseath, she graced this world with her presence until her passing on May 22, 2026, at the age of 88, leaving behind a legacy of affection and strength.
Eleanor was a member of the California Young Men’s Club, she loved playing BINGO, whether at the California Hill Gun Club, Roscoe or the Stockdale VFD’s. She also enjoyed camping, fishing, walking and reading.
In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Anderson, Sr (November 14, 2002): her sister Elizabeth Wise; brother, Thomas Dunseath, and her granddaughter, Rachel Anderson.
Eleanor devoted her life to nurturing her family and creating a warm, welcoming home, often having the neighborhood kids playing in her yard. She was a lifelong resident of Pennsylvania, and her beloved family includes daughters Cheryl Matheson (William “Hunky”) and Lenora Neil (Fred); sons, Norman "Junior" Anderson (Dani Jo) and Richard Anderson (Cindy). Eleanor also found immense joy in her grandchildren, Crystal Anderson, Laura Sholtis, Amanda Frederick (Jared), Jennifer Neil (Charles Roberts), Hannah Harris (James), as well as her great-granddaughters Jordyn Cruse, Haley Sholtis, and Emily Sholtis, and great-grandson James Harris. Also left to cherish her memory is her brother, Dave Dunseath.
Her family will gather to honor Eleanor's remarkable life in the Mariscotti Funeral Home, Inc., Anthony N. Mariscotti, Supervisor, 323 4th Street, California, PA on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 2 to 8 pm. Funeral services in celebration of her life will be held on May 27, 2026, at 11 am in the funeral home with Pastor Doug Conroy officiating.
Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Coal Center, PA,.
Eleanor Anderson's legacy of love, warmth, and family will forever resonate in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
