Ethel McKnight Obituary

Ethel Jane McKnight, born on January 13, 1926, in California, Pennsylvania, peacefully passed away from natural causes on December 5, 2024, at the age of 98. Ethel was the embodiment of warmth and kindness, a devoted mother and cherished homemaker whose life was characterized by love, nurturing, and an unwavering dedication to her family.

As a young woman, Ethel navigated the ups and downs of life with grace and resilience. Her laughter filled her home, and her passion for creating a welcoming environment was evident in every family gathering. She instilled in her son, Chris McKnight, invaluable lessons about love, kindness, and the importance of family bonds that will endure through generations.

Ethel will be remembered for her exceptional ability to bring people together. Her home served as a haven for friends and family, with the aroma of her cooking and the sound of her gentle laughter creating unforgettable memories. Those who knew her will carry her spirit in their hearts, and her legacy will live on through the stories shared about her compassionate heart.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Charleroi.  She was an avid card player and bowler.  When Chris was in little league, she was the president of the women’s auxiliary and Ethel and her husband, Woody, were influential in bettering the little league fields, and building the dugouts and concession stand.

In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, William McKnight,; sisters, Pauline Jurik and  Ann Lemonovich and brother Michael Horvath.

Ethel is survived by her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Joyce McKnight; her granddaughters, Macy, Lindsay, and Alexis, all who will carry forward the values and love she imparted throughout their lives.
