George F. Powell

George F. Powell, 82, of California, PA , died Monday, November 20, 2017.

He was born Wednesday, November 21, 1934, in California, PA, a son of the late Cabe Powell and the late Elizabeth (McGinnis) Powell.  For many years George, along with his wife, owned and operated Powell’s Auto Parts and Service in California.

He was a member of the California Young Men's Club, the California Athletic Club (CAC), of which he was a founding member,  and the former American Legion JFK Post 377 of California, PA.

In addition to his parents George was preceded in death by his wife Peggy and three brothers, Cabe Powell, Guy Powell and Todd McLaughlin.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Pamela Duricic and husband Jeff of California, PA; sister, Sophie Hotz of California, PA;  brothers, Bert Powell of California, PA and Gerald "Jerry" Powell of Newell, PA; and one granddaughter, Chelsey Duricic.  Also surviving are his grand dogs, Otis and Remmy, a dear friend at Liberty Tower and numerous nieces and nephews

Friends will be received in the Mariscotti Funeral Home, Inc., Anthony N. Mariscotti, Supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, PA on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 from 6-8 pm, on Thursday from 3-8 pm and until 11 am on Friday, November 24, 2017 when funeral services will be held in the funeral home with Rev. Candace Cook, officiating.

Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery.
