George William “Ned” SLAVIK, of Latrobe, formally of Roscoe, PA, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at the age of 57.  

Born on January 8th, 1960 at Ireland Army Hospital in Fort Knox, KY to George and Joanne (Michael) Slavik, he was the third of four children. George was a graduate of California Area High School, class of 1978, and later received his Bachelors of Science in nursing from California University of Pennsylvania.  He recently retired from Torrance State Hospital, where he provided many years of dedicated service. He was currently pursuing a master’s degree in nursing administration from the University of Pittsburgh.

George was an avid lover of nature and animals and very much enjoyed hiking, running, and cycling. He was a Harley-Davidson enthusiast and enjoyed various adventures around the globe.

George is survived by his loving mother, Joanne; older brothers Joseph Paul Slavik and wife Lori, Robert Michael “Red” Slavik and wife Cindy, and younger sister Revamarie (Slavik) Savage and husband Joseph. He is also survived by nieces Krysta Rose Slavik, Chelsey Hannah Slavik, Trinity Faith Savage, Morgan Elizabeth Slavik, Samantha Joanne Slavik, nephew Joseph Michael Slavik, and great-nieces Dixie Marie, Aubrey Loretta, Ava Leighann, and Haven Rose. Additionally, he is survived by aunts and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, George and his grandmother Hannah Tyson Michael.

Family and friends will be received in the Mariscotti Funeral Home, Inc., Anthony N. Mariscotti, Supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, PA on Monday, February 13th, 2017 from 9 am-10:30 am with a church service to follow at 11:00 am in Saint Katharine Drexel  (California Campus, 409 Union Street)   with Fr. Mike Zavage as Celebrant.
