John C. "Jack" Harris, a beloved husband, father, brother, teacher, and cherished member of the California, PA community, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024, in his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on September 17, 1942, in Brownsville, PA, a son of the late Alfred and Jean (Anfield) Harris.
Having received his master's degree, Jack dedicated his life to education, working as a teacher and positively influencing countless young minds over the years. His passion for teaching not only impacted his students but also left a lasting mark on the educational community.
In addition to his parents Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Connie Harris; sister, Marie Whoolery; brothers, David "Pat" Harris, Larry "Pooker" Harris, and his brother-in-law, Larry Ging.
Left to cherish Jack's memory are his wife of 24 years, Debbie Harris, his devoted son, Pete Harris (Pam), his daughters Christa Kuvinka (Bruce Kearns) and Bri Hall (Bill); his siblings, Ken Harris (Donna), Carol Witmyer (Abbsy), Nancy Parkins (Byron), Kay Schrock (Richard) , Debbie Ging, and Kevin Harris.
He will also be remembered fondly by his grandchildren, Aaron Previsky (Samantha Wiltrout), Jordan Kearns (Alaina Chiaravalle), Bella Messer, and Ethan Hall who brought him immense joy and pride.
A man of integrity and compassion, Jack's presence lit up any room he entered, his kind heart and wisdom touching all who had the privilege of knowing him. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, but his memory will continue to inspire and guide those whose lives he touched.
Family and friends will be received in the Mariscotti Funeral Home, Inc., Anthony N. Mariscotti, Supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, PA on Monday, November 18, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and until 11:00 am on Tuesday when funeral services will be held in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Grafton Eliason, officiating.
Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery, California, PA
Jack's legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to education will forever be remembered by all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
