John A. Hrivnak Obituary

John A. Hrivnak, 62, of Gainesville, FL, died Thursday, February 9, 2017 after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.

 

He was born Saturday, October 16, 1954, in Charleroi, PA the oldest son of the late George J. and the late Carolyn (Hazelbaker) Hrivnak.

 

John proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy. He was an Registered Nurse for 23 years at the Malcom Randall Veterans Affairs Center in Gainesville, FL.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Left to cherish his memory are four sisters and two brothers,  Christy Gibney and husband Bob of Bethel Park, PA, George Hrivnak, Jr. and wife Michelle of Allenport, PA, Debbie Hrivnak-Webb of Allenport, PA, Rhonda Gasser and husband Rick of Shawnee, KS, Patty Brudnik and husband Frank of Elco, PA, and Bill Hrivnak and wife Jeannie of Gainesville, FL. 


Also surviving are 11 nieces and nephews, Scott Sussman, Katie Wingard, Michael Hrivnak, Amy, Sara, and Megan Gasser, Kirstan Webb, Courtney Hrivnak, Becky Carr, Mandy Jones, and Regan Gibney; 3 great nieces; Lucy and Esther Sussman, and Delani Carr and one great nephew, Teddy Sussman.

 

Friends will be received in the Mariscotti Funeral Home, Inc., Anthony N. Mariscotti, Supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, PA on Tuesday, February 14 from 2-4 and 6-8 and until 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 when funeral services will be held in the funeral home with Rev. Candace Cook, officiating.

 

Interment will follow in Phillipsburg Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Hillman Cancer Center, 5115 Centre Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15323.
