It is with a mixture of sorrow and celebration that we announce the passing of Loretta Lee Gornick, a beloved wife, cherished teacher, and devoted friend, who entered into eternal rest on May 27, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on December 2, 1937, in California, PA, the daughter of Harry and Esther (Lallance) DelBarre, Loretta lived a life rich with purpose and passion, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she met.

Loretta dedicated her life to education, obtaining a Master’s Degree and thriving as a teacher, inspiring countless students and colleagues with her wisdom, kindness, and unwavering commitment to learning. Her passion for teaching was matched only by her love for the Washington Capitals.  Loretta was a huge fan and has a signed “Alex Ovechkin” jersey. 

Loretta is survived by her adoring husband, William Gornick, along with her dear nephew David Barron, niece Eileen Barron, and several beloved cousins, including Dan Swartz, Dale Kaukonen, Carol Korber, Gloria Kuhn, and Loretta Assad.

Friends will be received in the Mariscotti Funeral Home, Inc., Anthony N. Mariscotti, Supervisor, 323 4th Street, California, PA, on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm,  allowing family and friends to gather, share memories, and celebrate her legacy.
A Funeral Service will take place on June 8, 2026, at 11 am in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Grafton Eliason, officiating.  Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park
