Richard J. Zahara

Richard J. Zahara, 85, of Daisytown, PA, died Thursday, February 23, 2017.

He was born Tuesday, June 2, 1931, in Daisytown, PA, a son of the late John and the late Susan (Cirbus) Zahara.

He was a member of the Daisytown Athletic Club with 50 years of service as an officer, the Miners Club in Richeyville and the American Legion in California. Rich proudly served our country in the Army.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 62 years, Roberta (Bowers) Zahara; three children, Christine Zahara Tobak of Blainesburg, Terry MacFann and husband Bill of Daisytown, and Richard Michael Zahara and wife Erin of Keansburg, NJ; two brothers, Dave Zahara and wife Rose of Woodhaven, MI, James Zahara of Daisytown, PA. One sister, Susan Balla also of Daisytown.  Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Susan Charlton and husband Michael, Amy Tobak and significant other Keith Kuhns, Mark Tobak and significant other, Amanda Tbsbach, Meghan, Maura and Ryan Zahara and Kathleen MacFann; six great grandchildren. Zoey Charlton, Nathan and Abby Kuhns, Calhoun and Brayden Zahara and Gino Palette.

Services were private and were entrusted to the Mariscotti Funeral Home, Inc., Anthony N. Mariscotti, Supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, PA.
