It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Shane Thomas Grooms, who left this world on February 22, 2026, at the age of 49. Born on July 7, 1976, in Washington, Pennsylvania, a son of Kathy (Crockett) Grooms and the late William Joseph Grooms, Shane was a beloved son, brother, and friend, who was always the life of the party to all who knew and loved him.
Shane moved to Montana shortly after graduating. He spent several years working and enjoying the outdoors in West Yellowstone. Shane was an avid fisherman and die hard Steeler fan. Shane loved spending quality time with or bragging about his niece and nephews. Always a favorite uncle, he will be forever missed by them. The love of his life was his dog, Floyd, aka “Buggs”. You would never catch him without Buggs by his side, always going on new adventures, visiting friends, or fishing or swimming in the river.
In addition to his father, Shane is preceded in death by his brother, and best friend, Seth Grooms (November 2021). Shane was also grandson to the late Thomas and Barbra Crockett of California, PA, as well as Richard “Ding Ding” Encapera.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving mother, Kathy Grooms; his devoted sisters, Tobi Lacey, and her husband, Don Lacey; and Kami Cramer, and her husband, Dan Cramer; and his cherished grandmother, Doris Encapera. Shane held a special place in the hearts of his family, who will forever remember him for his laughter, jokes, kindness, and unwavering support. He is also survived by niece and nephews, Colton and Maddie Lacey, and Caleb Grooms.
In this time of mourning, let us remember Shane for the joy he brought into our lives, the small moments spent together, and the love that will continue to bind us in his memory. May he rest in peace.
There will be a celebration of life on Friday, February 27th at 6pm at West Brownsville American Legion for all who would like to attend
